Study Abroad in Galway

Experience an introduction to Irish Studies that incorporates elements from multiple contributing disciplines in seminars on key topics such as identity, emigration, and religion. Your time in class is enhanced by elective-specific field trips, dramatic performances, guided tours, interdisciplinary seminars, and other active learning experiences that allow you to gain a more comprehensive understanding of lessons learned in class. Whether you're exploring your own heritage or simply want to learn more about Ireland, you'll enjoy this deep dive into Irish culture and history.

Where You'll Study

Founded in 1845, the National University of Ireland Galway hosts 17,000 students on its central campus along the River Corrib. Attend class side-by-side with Irish and other international students for an integrated experience in western Ireland’s largest, oldest university. Students receive a transcript from the National University of Ireland Galway upon completion of their program.

Through SIUE's partnership with CEA, all SIUE students who participate in CEA programs receive:
  • A $1,000 travel grant toward any semester program
  • A $500 travel grant toward any summer program

This grant is applied to the student's account at CEA. Note that this grant cannot be combined with other CEA offers which may appear from time to time.
