Through SIUE's longstanding relationship with ESSCA, selected business majors and minors may participate in the 4 week summer program in Angers, France. The 4 week ANGERS SUMMER PROGRAM (ASP) , taught entirely in English, offers a thorough understanding of how the European Union, and the delicately balanced cooperation between its member states, really functions. It also provides a firsthand initiation into all the essential aspects of European business and its interactions with the United States and other regions of the globe. The program begins with three weeks in the beautiful Loire valley city of Angers, then moves to Brussels for several days, with the final week in Paris.

Courses

Students earn six credit hours for participating in this program. Specific course equivalents are determined at time of registration.


Location:
ESSCA is located on the outskirts of Angers, a beautiful, green and lively city in the Loire Valley in Western France. Only 90 minutes from Paris, and 60 minutes from the spectacular beaches of the Atlantic coast, there are plenty of nearby beautiful places to explore. With a population of approximately 160,000 inhabitants it is still ranked as France’s 4th most student-friendly city (L’Etudiant, 2011) and is well known for its unique 12th Century fortress, as well as the world’s oldest medieval tapestry -which all add to the accommodating atmosphere of this beautiful city. The summer program begins with 3 weeks in Angers and then moves to Brussels for several days, with the final week in Paris.

Dates:
The Angers Summer Program is June 8 to July 7, 2016.

Costs:

Tuition: Students approved by SIUE's School of Business and ESSCA to participate in this exchange program will be charged 6 hours SIUE tuition for the  SIUE equivalent courses and credit hours. In addition to the SIUE tuition, students will be billed for the information technology fee. All other SIUE student fees are waived. Students will receive a tuition waiver at ESSCA and pay only an "organisational fee" to ESSCA.

The Summer 2016 ESSCA Organisational Fee is 2,300 EUROS ($2,600 US estimate) and includes:
  • Housing in Angers, Brussels and Paris (provided in carefully selected hotels on a double room-basis)
  • All breakfasts in Brussels and Paris. All lunches in Angers, Brussels and Paris (except when specified on all-day field trips)
  • Official farewell dinner in Paris
  • Transport from Angers to Brussels and Brussels to Paris by high-speed train
  • Local transport in Angers, Brussels & Paris
  • All field visits organised by ESSCA (including entrance fees & guided tours)
  • Assistance by course director
  • Access to PC, Internet and library on campuses in Angers and Paris
Additional costs to consider:
  • Round trip airfare to and from France
  • Transport from airport to town on arrival and at departure
  • Meals not included in program.
  • Insurance, visa or passport fees
  • Personal expenses.
